Jack C. Roberts received his B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Michigan, and his Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Dr. Roberts has worked in industry and the university environments for over 35 years in the fields of: structural design and analysis, biomechanics, orthopaedic implant design, bone fracture mechanics and most recently in impact biomechanics. Throughout his career, he has worked with materials as diverse as structural steel, continuous fiber composites, and bone. Dr. Roberts has over 100 peer reviewed publications, proceedings and conference presentations as well as, two book chapters, eleven patents, two industrial awards and the Maurice Simpson Technical Editors Award for best paper from the Institute of Environmental Sciences (IES). He is co-recipient of the 2003 Inventor of the Year Award in the Physical Sciences from JHU/APL and 2006 recipient of a Senior Technology Fellow Emerald award. Dr. Roberts is a Research Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and teaches three courses in the night Master.s Program at the Johns Hopkins University, Department of Mechanical Engineering. These are: Theory and Application of Structural Analysis, Analysis and Design of Composite Structures and Advanced Strength of Materials.
