Nikolai V. Gorbunov, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor at the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. He received his PhD in biology from the Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg) in 1991. Following graduation he worked as a NAS NRC Fellow at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. After completing work at Walter Reed, Dr. Gorbunov spent some time as a DOE Fellow at the Center for Environmental and Occupational Health at the University of Pittsburgh. He then returned to Walter Reed as a NRC Senior Research Associate, eventually becoming a principal investigator before accepting his current position. Dr. Gorbunov has been invited to speak before at the 9th Annual Force Health Protection Conference, the International Blast and Ballistic Trauma Congress, and at Experimental Biology 2007.
