After graduating from UCLA School of Public Health in 1983, Dr. Elsayed spent few years as an Assistant Professor at UCLA School of Medicine before joining the Federal Civil Service in 1987, first at Letterman then Walter Reed Army Institutes of Research. His last position was Chief of the Pulmonary Biochemistry Section studying the mechanisms of blast and toxic gas injuries. Since leaving the Army in 2000, he joined the pharmaceutical industry at GlaxoSmithKleine. Currently he is a Senior Manager of Toxicology at Celgene Corp., NJ and Adjunct Professor of Anatomy and Cell Biology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center at Brooklyn, NY.
